24 hours after being arrested in connection to the murder of semi pro football player Odin Lloyd, Aaron Hernandez may be facing trial on a double murder dating back to 2012 where two men were gunned down in their vehicle after an altercation at a local night club. It is believe that Lloyd had evidence connecting Hernandez to the double murder, which would have been motive for Hernandez murdering Lloyd in cold blood. Hernandez is currently being held without bail. The New England Patriots have cut Hernandez from the team, just hours after being arrested on June26th, and issued the fallowing statement:
“A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”
Hernandez is currently being charged with five gun charges and attempt of murder for Odin Lloyd. He has not been formally charged with the double murder that took place in 2012 as of yet however. Hernandez is due to appear in court on July 24th, but has the right to file for an appeal for bail in the meantime.
