La Corporación de Cine participará por primera vez en el Festival de Cannes Lions, que será del próximo 17 a 22 de junio, con el objetivo de restablecer el mercado de producción de comerciales como fuente de actividad económica y creación de empleos. Así lo informaron el secretario del Departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Comercio, Alberto Bacó Bagué, y el director ejecutivo de la Corporación de Cine, Demetrio Fernández Manzano. El evento forma parte del Festival Cannes de cine, celebrado del 15 al 26 de mayo pasado, donde la Corporación también tuvo la oportunidad de presentar la oferta de incentivos de Puerto Rico para la producción de películas.

Fernández Manzano destacó que la participación en el Festival de Cine de Cannes ha levantado el interés por parte de dos productores estadounidenses y uno europeo, así como una compañía de vídeo juegos, gracias a los beneficios que otorga la Ley de Incentivos para la Industria Fílmica de Puerto Rico.

Los funcionarios resaltaron la producción de la serie de televisión Homeland, cuya filmación será del 11 al 20 de junio en una localidad en Hato Rey. La serie es una producción de Fox para la cadena Showtime y reclutará 75 técnicos locales y 100 personas como extras.
